INNER WHEEL CLUB OF KOLKATA TILOTTAMA

Two young girls, Sonia Paswan studying in class X & Sania Paswan studying in class VIII of Government High School, Darbhanga in Bihar walk almost 20kms to reach school everyday.
The two sisters wants to pursue with their education so they can take up jobs after completion of their studies and help their parents financially. Their father is a taxi driver & mother a homemaker .
IWC Kolkata Tilottama just tried to add wings to their dreams by making their ordeal of commuting to their school a little easier by gifting them bicycles.

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF BEHALA

On 8th 9th and 10th May 2021 IWC Behala distributed 2000 surgical masks and 2000 Dettol/Savlon soaps in South Barasat. 3 points were chosen for distribution , Mission crossing, Jhautala crossing and Maitir haat crossing on Magrahat Road covering a number of villages .                                                                      An awareness briefing through loudspeakers placed at the three location, each day, was arranged which served the dual purpose of branding Inner Wheel as well. The voice over is by Past President Sumita Dutta .                              Some of the villagers enthusiastically volunteered in the distribution.

WORLD VETERINARY DAY CELEBRATED BY IWC BEHALA

IWC Behala celebrated World Veterinary Day on 24th April 2021
by vaccinating 10 abandoned and street dogs .Dog food was given to each.
The present owners mostly fish and vegetable sellers of Boral market were
given cloth bags with Inner wheel logo branding Inner wheel

DISTRICT 329 CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

31 Inner Wheel Clubs  of District 329 implemented projects to bring some sunshine in the lives of women and  girlchild in celebration of the International Women’s Day. Kudos to the club Presidents  for their efforts to touch lives and make a difference.

IWC  BALLYGUANGE  DISTRIBUTED MASK AND SANITIZERS WITH INNER WHEEL LOGO TO DISABLED WOMAN AND CHILDREN OF  UDBARSH

IWC BELUR DONATED 91 SETS OF STITCHED AND UNSTICHED SUITS TO THE  INMATES OF KARMA KUTIR.

IWC CALCUTTA DOWNTOWN PROVIDED INSURANCES TO 3 ELDERLY LADIES OF EMON, AN NGO WHICH PROVIDES WORK AS WELL  AS VOCATIONAL TRANING TO THE UNDERPRIVELDGED.

IWC COSSIPORE PROVIDED MEDICINE TO CHILDREN, MOSTLY GIRLS SUFFERING FROM THALASEAMIA.

IWC DHAKURIA GAVE FINANCIAL HELP TO A 75 YEARS OLD  LAUNDRY WOMAN  TO BUY ELECTRIC IRON TO EARN HER LIVEHOOD WITH DIGNITY.

IWC GARDEN REACH DISTRIBUTED SANITARY NAPKINS TO 100 WOMEN IN GAURDAHO VILLAGE IN CANNING. A HEALTH CAMP WAS ALSO ORGANISED FOR THESE WOMEN.

IWC GREATER TOLLYGUNGE DONATED 2 SEWING MACHINE TO KALIGHAT MILAN SANGHA. THEY ALSO ARRANGED FOR A TEACHER AND REGULAR  TEACHING CLASSES FOR THE LOCAL WOMEN OF THE AREA.

IWC HOWRAH BRIDGE FELICITED DR SURVA CHAKRABORTY, THE  HEADMISTRESS OF JIGESH CHANDRA HIGH SCHOOL.

IWC JODHPUR PARK PROVIDED BREAKFAST  AND ALSO DONATED DRESS MATERIAL CRAYONS COLOURS, SANITARY NAPKINS TO 20 GIRLS OF KIRTIKA PROTECTION HOME.

IWC KOLLOLINI KOLKATA FELICITATED PROFFESOR DR BELLA BOSE WHO WORKS UNTIRINGLY FOR THE UNDERPRIVELGED. SHE ORGANISES VOCATIONAL TRAINING TO MAKE THEM SELF SUFFICIENT.

IWC KHIDDERPORE COSMOS DONATED A SAMSUNG MOBILE PHONE TO THE DAUGHTER OF A BUILDING CARETAKER TO FACILITATE HER EDUCATION.

IWC KOLKATA GREENS FELICITATED ABADUTIKA ANANDA PROBUDDHA ACHARIYA, FOR DEDICATING HER LIFE FOR THE ORPHAN CHILDREN OF ANANDA MARG SHISHU SADAN, NARENDERPUR

PROJECT SHIVRATRI OF INNER WHEEL CLUB OF KOLKATA TILOTTAMA

The Shivratri project is one of the  ongoing project of IWC Kolkata Tilottama for the last 3years. This is one project which is very close to the hearts  of the young ladies of the club as they extend their  love to the malnourished children of our country. The thoughts which motivated this Club to take up this project was every year on Shivratri  gallons of milk are offered  to the shrine believing that our prayers and wishes will be fulfilled while we lose maximum children/kids to malnutition.  To raise awareness on this sheer wastage and use of our most vital supplies of milk and nutritional food for our children of tomorrow on 14th March,2021, IWC KOLKATA TOLOTTAMA provided deprived and malnourished children with Amul Taaza milk tetra packs, packaged cakes, Horlicks(nutrition supplement), Chocos and Recycled paper pencil with plantable seeds, which will definitely grow up one day.
The venue for the project this year was the Inner Wheel School run by IWC South Calcutta, the mother  Club  so to speak of IWC Kolkata Tilottama. Hence It was more of a mother – daughter team work.
The presence of District Chairman Mrs Anita Ghosh along with the  past and present Presidents of IWC South Calcutta – AC member Dr.Ruchi Gupta, President  Mrs.Manidipa Lahiri, P.P. Mrs. Bijoya Naha, Mrs.Soumdyuti Ghosh and other  members  added that extra colour to the project.

Kudos to the club Presidents  for their efforts to touch lives and make a difference.                                                                                                                                 Here is   a glimpse of some of the projects undertaken on 8th March 2021.

Inner wheel club of Calcutta Mega City  donated a Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine to Mother’s Nest at Maniktola.                                                                                  Mother’s Nest is first generation school for senior students and women of the slums of the area .This vending machine along with 1000 sanitary napkins will benefit more than 80 women from the slums. Health drinks were also provided to the women who attended the programme on 8th March.

Child trafficking and sexual abuse are traumatic experiences that no young girl should go through. IWC of South West Calcutta celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th.March in partnership with CALCUTTA SANVED who provide an unique DANCE THERAPY to help such unfortunate girls to come back to a normal life.
The club also provided a certain amount of financial support for their psychological counseling and therapy.

On the occasion of International Women’s day  IWC Garden Reach distributed sanitary napkins to the women of a village near Canning area Gourdaho, and also organised a health check up camp  with the help of Atri society Dhakuria .

On  8th March 2021 in observance of the International Women’s Day IWC Behala donated 2 sewing machines to two girls from South Shalgoria village, South Barasat. Iron capsules, Horlicks biscuit in Cloth bags with Inner wheel logo branding Inner wheel were also given.

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA NORTH EAST

This year’s dream project of IWC Calcutta North East was at Rooppur gram, Shantiniketan. The Club constructed Two Toilets with Septic tank with the help of local Panchayat Pradhan . It was inaugurated on 1st February 2021 at 10.00 am. It was our small effort to make the villagers (50 families) happy and healthy with proper hygiene  being maintained.  They  also distributed ,

2020 has been a year fraught with so many difficulties starting from a pandemic, ensuing lockdown to economic downturn. However, this year has been unable to dull the spirit of human kindness. Hence, at IWC Kolkata Tilottama we ventured out to help the underprivileged senior citizens residing at St Anne’s home in Barasat. We provided the elderly members of the St Anne’s Home with 30 blankets. Lunch was also provided to the members of the home courtesy “Calcutta Calling”restaurant To add a sweet touch to this noble venture the senior citizens were provided sweets courtesy Rambabu This project aimed to cater to the most vulnerable section of society that is the underprivileged senior citizens and we are glad we could made a small difference to their lives even for one day.

2 Projects were implemented in November .

1. Project: Children’s day

With the vast spreading of Covid 19 positive cases in our city, along with approaching winter, all that we want is our kids to be safe, sound and warm. So, Children’s Day was observed by  IWC Kolkata Tillotama by donating warm clothes like jackets, sweaters, hoodies etc to the children of the slum areas of Kasba. The kids are one of the worst victims of the pandemic but have shown their best of behavior during these crises hour, by abiding all health rules.

2. Project: Women Hygiene and awareness

Keeping the dignity of women in mind,  IWC Kolkata Tilottama once again conducted a women Hygiene and awareness program at Kasba/ Gariahat slum area. We distributed sanitary napkins to the ladies and also spoke to them about the usage of “Menstrual cups”.  Distributed pamphlets in bengali which will provide them with a through idea about the product. Hoping that under the current pandemic situation and other wise also it will not only help them to have a much

October project at Sonagachi                                                                                                         Project: New clothes and goodies, sarees and shirts at Sonagachi.
Date: 20th October 2020.
Venue: Sonagachi
Beneficiaries: 25 boys, 25 girls, 15 infants, 10 ladies, 16 men.
To celebrate TOGETHERNESS and HOPE to have a wonderful year ahead with the blessing of Ma Durga…. members of Inner Wheel Club of Kolkata Tilottama believe in this.
So we ventured out to bring enjoyment in the faces of the kids of the sex workers and the ladies and men of Asia’s largest Red light area, Sonagachi, we distributed only and only Happiness and smile in the form of clothes and goodies.

 

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA OLD CITY

On 24th December, IWC Calcutta Old City  distributed evening snacks   and Santa Caps among 30 underprivileged children of a Slum in Jodhpur Park area. This is a continuous Project of the club from the year 2000.

On 29th December  club distributed monthly ration among ten very needy women of a Slum in Jodhpur Park area.

JOINT PROJECT - PRERONA

Dear Dist.Chairman Anita,
On 20th December 2020 IWC CALCUTTA OLD CITY  successfully completed the Joint Project PRERONA as a lead Club along with GENESIS FOUNDATION, a Drug and Chemical Rehabilitation Centre, Dishari, Salt Lake City. 45 Clubs of Dist.329 have come forward and joined with us.
This year we were able to provide a young lady’s detoxification and treatment cost for six months, who is a victim of drug and comes from a very needy family.

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA NORTH EAST

IWC CALCUTTA NORTH EAST completed the water  body restoration project at PARESHNATHPUR FULIA. It is about 3 bighas of water body. The villagers can use its water now.

JOINT PROJECT ARUNODOY

On 18th December 2020 IWC JOKA as a lead club handed over a cheque amounting to Rs. One Lakh to the Director of Dr.Saroj Gupta Cancer center and Research Institute ,Kolkata, for medical treatment of Anuska Mistry, a six year old underpriviledged girl child, suffering from leukemia and is undergoing treatment at the said hospital . District Chairman Anita Ghose was present and handed over the cheque on behalf of IWC-JOKA.

 

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA MID TOWN

On the occasion of the International Day for People with Disabilities, the Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Midtown sponsored a camp in December at Mahavir Seva Sadan to provide calipers and artificial foot to 30 patients .

Sodexo sponsored vocational training: Basic Computer Course for 20 girls dropped out of school, married early. Conducted by APTECH 45 hours, 2 days a week 3 hours a day . Started  on 2nd December  2020

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA JUNCTION

On the occasion of Children’s Day, IWC of Calcutta Junction in association with Humanity Trust & Hospital organised Health Check Up Camp and distributed Medicine and Nutritional Supplements to the less privileged children of Coastal areas of Sunderban and Bankura.

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA EASTLAND

Pujar Nuton Jama -18TH OCTOBER

To bring smile amongst the little angels, on the auspicious occasion of Navratri IWC Calcutta Eastland distributed new clothes to the children of Chittaranjan Colony, Jadavpur area. This was conducted with the assistance of local counsellor Smt Rinku Naskar and Mr Nikhilesh Mitra of Tamali Mitra Memorial Foundation, NGO run by Mr Mitra in the memory of Late Mrs Tamali Mitra. Apart from new clothes our club members donated hand sanitizers and masks and distributed chocolates to the children. There were about 34 children all between the age group of 4 to 12 years old.

Pujar nuton jama – 22nd October

The 2nd phase of distribution was conducted in assistance with Tamali Mitra Memorial Foundation to the needy locals of Jadavpur area on the day of Mahashasti. This activity conducted by us brought immense mental satisfaction. The venue of the project was Jadavpur Abasharika.

 

GRAMIN UDYOG

 

On 18th October Eight good samaritans on behalf of District 329 visited the adopted villages of Jayatala n Moutala, in Baruipur block of South 24 Parganas.
They donated 2 Mango saplings each , 2 kgs of lentil, 1 kg soya chunk, Health drink , iron tablets for 3 months and new clothes for the festive season.

They also donated 25 chicks for chicken Rearing and fish for pici culture in the recently restored water bodies, in order to provide livelihood to the village ladies of Jayatala n Moutala.

INNER WHEEL SPREADING SOME CHEER

IWC Calcutta Mahanagar distributed 5kg rice,5kg atta,2kg dal,1 ltr oil along with aluminium utensils consisting of 1 handi, 1 kadhai, 2 thalis, 2 glasses and 1 big spoon among the 60 families of bustee of East Canal which has been destroyed by deadly fire.

IWC Calcutta Old City contributed towards Pisciculture or Fish Farming to 6 needy women of Kakdwip, who are trying to support their family. they provided fish food for three months.

Nothing is more important than a dignified and respectful life of any human being. The super cyclone of Amphan left the boats of fishermen in Sunderban devasted.

Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Mega City with 36 other clubs of Inner Wheel Dist 329 had joined and some benevolent donors conceived the project Ajivika Dhibor (Livelihood Renewal Initative) for 13 fishermens on whom depended 380 beneficiaries.                                                                                                       The project was  flagged off virtually by Dist Chairman of IWD 329 Anita Ghosh. These fisherman can start fishing and earn in this second peak period of the year they earn the most.

NGO partner Kallol Ghosh, Mrinal da and Sundarban Tiger Widow Welfare Society helped in supervising the project .

INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY

INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY WAS OBSERVED IN INNER WHEEL DIST 329 WITH  VARIED PROJECTS.

Inner Wheel Club of Jadavpur donated a sum of Rs.2000/_ to Rima Das, a B- Tech 2nd year student for educational expenses.

IWC Calcutta West On the occasion of International Girl Child Day and in keeping with this year’s theme for this day -‘ My voice, our equal future’, organised an awareness workshop with twenty-five girls (between 11-17 yrs), from the marginalised community of Titagarh, North 24 Pgns. The girls were counselled on various topics, like:
a) Gender equality and gender based violence
b) Cybercrime and cyber security
c) Menstrual hygiene
The girls were also taught self- defence tactics through a crash course on basic martial arts by a certified instructor. A drawing session was conducted where the girls drew pictures based on the theme of women empowerment. The attendees were provided with food packets, sanitary napkins and face masks.

IWC Calcutta Old City distributed new clothes for Puja among the 14 girl inmates of Prerona Residential home for the daughters of Sex Workers of Kalighat Red Light area. They also provided Cakes,Potato Chips etc for them.

IWC Calcutta Mahanagar – To celebrate the power of girls, under our ongoing project *We For Her* they distributed Sanitary Napkins along with * biscuits, bananas and Inner Wheel logo embossed masks for branding Inner Wheel. Total 60 girls were benefited.

IWC Calcutta Midtown arranged an orientation on Menstrual Health and Hygiene for 350 adolescents at Kakdwip. Session with the first lot of 50 and SHG volunteers who will hold sessions in separate groups in the area. A video in Bengali was also used to explain. Distribution of 1030 sanitary napkins, 840 Savlon soaps and nutritious refreshments banana, bread, 2 eggs, 2 sweets and bottled water to each

Inner wheel club of Kolkata Tilottama takes its step towards Women Empowerment. They donated motorised sewing machine to Aariyom Foundation of Sundarban, Pathorprotima Block for opening a Tailoring Training Center. Mrs. Probhabati Jana will be rendering training to the ladies of the locality which will help them to be self employed.

WORLD SIGHT DAY

IWC CALCUTTA MAHANAGAR celebrated World Sight Day on 8th October by organizing an eye checkup for 100 patients of Rammohan Pally Samiti.

ANIMAL WELFARE DAY

ANIMAL WELFARE DAY, 4th OCTOBER  WAS OBSERVED BY  THE FOLLOWING CLUBS.

IWC CALCUTTA JADAVPUR   donated Rs.5000/_ to Chhaya Animal Hospital .and rescued two dogs , one Indian breed (Tommy) and one three legged labrador named Twitter. Some of club members feed street dogs regularly and look after dogs at their home.

IWC CALCUTTA WEST  gave food and medicines to People For Animals , an organisation founded by Maneka Gandhi, in Sreerampore, Hooghly. They were blessed to have the opportunity to provide a little love and care to the helpless animals in the shelter.

IWC JODHPUR PARK –  Four street dogs are fed by club members regularly. They gave them rice and meat cleanly cooked in a washed and clean container.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE ELDERLY

 

IWC CALCUTTA NORTH EAST has done a project on International Day of Elderly. They distributed new bedsheets, bedcovers, sarees, nighty, woollen shawls, towels, toothpastes, brushes, talcum powder, nivea lotion, ensure, horlicks, chawanprash, various types of biscuits, chocolates, cakes, fruits, puffed rice, Chanachur, Misti Achar, Litchi Drink, Hair Oil, Body Soap, Shampoo, Sunlight dertegents, suthol, sanitiser, phenyl along with bags and masks with IW logo to the seven inmates of Dinante an old age home at Madhyamgram Doltala. This is club continuous project for the last 14 years. This will be puja gift to them.                                                                                                                                              They also gave fruits , litchi drink, saree, nighty, biscuits , sanitiser, IW mask & bag to the two helping hands of this old age home.

IWC Ballygunge distributed medicines, hòrlicks , tea , biscuits and chanachur to 55 elderly residents of Tollygunge Navneer.

Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Midtown  –   On the occasion of the International Day for Elders, Member visted to Uttamananda & Bhimananda Matri Ashram, Konnagar. Located on the banks of the Ganga. There they Donated nighties, saris, blouses, petticoats, masks for all 24 residents and 4to home helps. Also gave biscuits, 2kg tea and 10kg sugar, sugar, Amulspray milk, toothpaste, surf sachets enough for six months, and 140 Savlon soaps and a Usha Sewing Machine. IWC Calcutta Mahanagar –  to celebrate their contribution to the society, distributed new sarees to 48 ladies and Dhoti kurtas to 12 older persons of old age home at Domjur along with I nner wheel mask.

IWC NORTH CALCUTTA – On auspicious day of Mahatama Ghandhaji birthday and of Ex Prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastriji at the East Canal Road, Baghmari .The club donated a kit containing a Mosquito net, steel bowl to eat, pack of biscuit, 500gm sugar,400gm suji, a packet of muri, a face mask and a dettol soap to 80 beneficiaries most of them are very poor. Some are very sick, some are helpless widows and some are students. They also donated a wheelchair to a physically challenged girl.

IWC  Tollygunge Prantik – The Refuge is a home whose  inmates were rescued by the Calcutta police from footpath. The club donated bedsheets, sanitizer, masks and biscuits to the inmates of Refuge.

IWC CALCUTTA MIDTOWN

On the occasion of the International Day for Elders, on October 2, 2020 and Gandhi Jayanti, Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Midtown visited Uttamananda & Bhimananda Matri Ashram, Konnagar. Located on the banks of the Ganga. Donated nighties, saris, blouses, petticoats, masks for all 24 residents and 4 home helps. Also gave biscuits, 2kg tea and 10kg sugar, sugar, Amulspray milk, toothpaste, surf sachets enough for six months, and 140 Savlon soaps and a Usha Sewing Machine. IWC JODHPUR PARK

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti IWC of Jodhpur Park took up the project of cleaning school garden of a Boys’ school as ‘Service to Children’. The garden is in a very bad shape and has become unsafe for the children and community. We have also provided a gardener (mali) . We have provided him with part-time job and tools and tackles for his work. We will clean the garden regularly.
At a Cost ofRs.15000 per annum. This will not only benefit the children but also the local people.

On the occasion of Animal Welfare Day,4th October,2020 we fed four street dogs. We gave them rice and meat cooked with care.

IWC KOLLOLINI KOLKATA

Celebrated Birthdays of two Great Indians Gandhiji ,Shastriji and observed “International Non Violence Day” with the motto: Cleanliness is next to Godliness”
Inner Wheel Club of Kollolini Kolkata hence observed the day as a cleanliness drive, collected petals and biodegradable items for compost’.

 

IWC Kollolini kolkata observed International Day for Elderly on 1 October by providing  necessities to the Sri Sai Old Age Home.
Diapers ,Antiseptic lotions, cotton rolls ,Ant fungal powder,25Kilos of rice. Bedsheets ,towels  were also provided. The Project was sponsored by President Aditi Acharya.

IWC SOUTH WEST CALCUTTA

To commemorate the World Deaf week IWC Calcutta South West contributed Rs. 10,000/- cash to the organisation name “SILENCE” for their vocational training, and also distributed mask with Inner Wheel Logo.

IWC CALCUTTA JUNCTION

The details of  project done on the month of August to help people who lost their livelihood due to Covid are as under.

IWC of Calcutta Junction  distributed dry food items such as Muri, Chire, Sattu, Sugar, Chanachur, Horlicks Sachets, Yippe/Maggie etc. among 50 girls of Sonagachi area. These girls, due to Covid infection, are without any business and are practically starving.
We have distributed small packets of Biscuits, Cakes, Horlicks Sachets and Yippe/Maggie among 100 of their children as well.

Kolkata Vidya Socio Cultural Centre, a school run by NGO for underprivileged girls of Beniapukur locality, has been closed for the last 4/5 months, due to the SARS Cov2 pandemic. As a result, the 4 teachers of the school have not been receiving their salaries. As one can imagine, without an income, the teachers have been battling severe hardship in their day to day lives.
On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, IWC Of Calcutta Junction felicitated Ms. Anita Mandal, Ms. Dipti Dey, Ms.Kakoli Banik and Ms. Aparna Biswas, the teachers of Kolkata Vidya Socio Cultural Centre, and as a token of recognition, donated a part their salaries.

On the occasion of International Day of Peace to spread love, IWC of Calcutta Junction in association with Humanity Trust has conducted awareness programme for Community Development in the coastal areas of Sunderban. Free medical camps and health awareness programmes specially for Women, Children and Older people were conducted and patients have been treated with free supply of Medicines. Masks,soaps were also distributed amongst them .

SAVE MOTHER EARTH - A JOINT INITIATIVE BY IWC JOKA & IWC SALT LAKE DOWNTOWN

To celebrate World Ozone Day, two lead clubs, IWC Salt Lake Downtown and IWC Joka planted 10 saplings (5 for each club) in association with Mother Earth Foundation in Southern Avenue and Keyatala Road. District Chairman Mrs Anita Ghosh planted the first sapling for each club.

IWC-JOKA and IWC SALTLAKE DOWNTOWN executed  a joint project on 10.9.20 in Ghosalpukur Park at Kalighat. Each club planted 6 saplings in two separate plots where the Councilor of 84 ward, Mrs. Paromita Chatterjee planted the first sapling for each club. The plants will be maintained by KMC. This is a small  endeavour towards Green Awareness .

IWC CALCUTTA EASTLAND

The projects  conducted by IWC Calcutta Eastland in the month of September are as under:

10th September – On World Literacy Day, IWC Calcutta Eastland provided financial assistance of Rs 5,000/- to the students of Chetla Sri Aurobindo Vidyapith, the Happy school of our club. This was provided to assist the students recharge their smart phones/internet connections for their online classes. Those students who do not have smart phone will be provided with photocopies of the notes, the cost of which is included in this financial assistance. This is considered as the running project of our club.

24th September – The running project was conducted on this day by providing the medical expenses of Nirmaladi residing at Navanir, Tollygunge.

24th September – On World Rose Day, the club provided an amount of Rs 5000/- to Cancer Fight Foundation for the welfare of the cancer affected children of Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital. The club members are trying to bring smiles back to these ailing children. This is also another running project of ours.

On the occasion of International Peace Day on 21st September 2020I.W.C.Behala donated 35 PPE kits to doctors and nurses of Eyecare and Research Centre, the first Eye Institute in Kolkata, with I.W.C. Behala written on each kit, branding Inner wheel.

The members of IWC JOKA planted six saplings of custard apple, guava, pomegranate and star fruit in the garden of Diamond city south Residential complex to enrich our Mother Earth which will help the environment.

IWC CALCUTTA SOUTH SUBURBAN
All the members of IWC Calcutta south suburban planted 20 neem trees in Jodhpur Park area go make this world a greener n safer place .

IWCTOLLYGUNGE PRANTIK undertook a tree plantation project at Ward no.102 in collaboration with Mother Earth foundation. sponsored 10 saplings, namely bokul,sonajhuri, amaltas,jarul etc. The local Councillor was also present.

IWC  CALCUTTA DOWNTOWN –  Money given for farming to the farmers to produce chemical free vegetables and fruits. Amount spent: Rs 10000

IWC JADAVPUR did the plantation project at Sambaran Bannerjee Cricket Academy, Vivekananda Park.
They donated 38 saplings in total. 36 saplings were made in the President’s personal garden,and two saplings were brought from nursery.

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA OLD CITY

Under the programme  of RESPONSIBLE INDIAN some remarkable work was done by Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Old City.
Medical help was rendered to a chronic diabetic patient .Even lunch was distributed among relatives in Sambhunath, Chittaranjan and three other city hospitals.A fog machine was given to Partha Kar Chowdhury ,the Hospital Man, for his selfless service.

To mark the bond of love our Club,on Raksha Bandhan Day, provided breakfast,soft toys story books to the inmates of Prerona, a shelter home for the girl children of the sex workers of Kalighat. A chocolate cake added to their happiness.
Keeping in mind the dauntless efforts of the police force 20 PPE kits were distributed along with sweets.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness-in an effort to maintain this our Club distributed several packets of sanitary napkins to under privileged women of Jidhpur Park area.

Amphan not only created havoc in nature but in our lives too. To minimise the miseries to some extent our Club distributed groceries among women who lost their jobs.
Project Jibika was launched with the joint effort of Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Metropolitan East to help the crab catching women of Kakdwip.

LITERACY DAY- Inner Wheel tried to make the slogan a reality for Papri Halder, a meritorious but needy student by giving a smart phone helping her to take online classes during the Pandemic.Yearly educational help to orphans Sumit Mallick &Sumit Debnath
and Radhika Mullick of Lady Brabourne College.

This pandemic definitely calls for rendering a helping hand to the senior citizens who were given monthly groceries during the lockdown period.

IWC SOUTH CALCUTTA – Members of Inner Wheel Club of South Calcutta are carrying the mission of spreading literacy for last 56 years through Inner Wheel School of South Calcutta since 1964 for underprivileged children which is continuing through WhatsApp, Zoom at times even during pandemic.

Inner Wheel Club Of Salt Lake Midtown On International Literacy day, Inner Wheel Club Of Salt Lake Midtown provided some financial assistance to Disha Sana to help pursue her nursing training. The cheque was handed over to her father.”

IWC CONTAI – On International Literacy Day, Inner Wheel Club of Contai donated study materials to 10 needy students. They gave them books, exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers ,sharpeners, biscuits, chocolates, sweets, sanitizers, musks and school bags.

IWC SALT LAKE DOWNTOWN gave a cheque for RS6000/ to a poor but talented undergraduate student to help with her studies including private coaching.

IWC CALCUTTA MEGACITY –  Sreeparna a students who used to get scholarship under our project UNMESH is now studying Computer Science in Bethune. She is finding it difficult to buy books continuously and KINDLE can solve the problem. So IWC Calcutta Megacity gave her a kindle so that she can continue her education.

IWC CALCUTTA SOUTH SUBURBAN– lWC Calcutta South Suburban distributed drawing books, colouring boxes, exercise copies , pens , note books and chocolates among 5 needy students.

I.W.C.BEHALA – sponsored the admission fees and the first month’s tution fees of Susri Jena,who scored 86% in class 10 board exams, to Higher Secondary course in the science stream.

IWC MAHANAGAR Under our Gyan Jyoti project today on 8th September International Literacy Day we have sponsored session and half yearly fees to 12 students classes ranging from class Vlll to B.Tec

IWC NORTH CALCUTTA have distributed books to 30 adult beneficiaries of Kaijuri Prayas at Uluberia .

IWC JADAVPUR  has done a project on Literacy with KEERTIKA, a home for the orphan girl children.They donated 40 books, 30 exercise books, pencils ,erasers ,sketch pens and other stationeries for the inmates of the home. EG

IWC JODHPUR PARK  took half an hour class on the foot path of the locality with the children of the underprivileged community .
We practiced writing of “ABCD” , writing of a statement denoting the love words for our country. The children are all from sweeper community . Quite often we take classes with them informally. The boy , Sandeep Baitha given 500/- to pursue his graduation course. Children were given a packet of biscuit each .

IWC CALCUTTA WEST has supported a girl child by sponsoring the annual academic expenses of a twelve year old girl named Taiyaba Kausar Arif.

IWC CALCUTTA  MIDTOWN – Annual Scholarship Project, since 2002. There are 37 recipients in 2020, most have been with us since a young age. The scholarship is given in 4 monthly installments. On International Literacy Day today September 8, two instalments totalling Rs. 111,000, were handed over to the girls from selected members’ homes . In addition, as an encouragement, two girls were given Rs. 1000 each for passing Class X and Rs. 3000 to two for successfully completing Class XII Board exams.

IWC METROPOLITAN –  NANDU SAU( Son of Domestic help) has been given Books to carryout his B.COM studies.

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF CALCUTTA OLD CITY – Yearly educational help to Papri Halder on World Literacy Day. A smartphone was given to Papri Halder, a needy and meritorious student to enable her to continue with her online studies on World Literacy

PROJECTS DONE ON TEACHER'S DAY

On 5th September 2020 on the occasion of Teacher’s day I.W.C.  BEHALA felicitated Ankita Roychowdhury and Mrinmoy Roychowdhury of Universal Smile orphanage who taught and guided the orphan children every evening personally, when the other teachers opted for the online mode in the prevailing COVID situation. The club also sponsored the entire annual educational expenses of  Rishita Biswas of Class III and Sarita Paul of Class IX of Universal Smile who had topped her class with a 90% aggregate score. In addition stationeries were provided for all 37 children (16 girls and 21 boys) of Universal Smile orphanage for this academic year.

Inner Wheel Club of Kollolini Kolkata  celebrated Teacher’s day with full of enthusiasm. Club Members felicitated 25 Teachers of NOBOPROYAS ,the school for specially abled children with Certificates ,Uttoriyo ,flowers and evening snacks. for teaching and non-teaching staffs and the students present. Dr.Shakuntala Acharya, Assistant Professor of IIT Guwahati was felicitated. The Teachers of JSS Public School were also felicitated  on Teacher’s Day.

IWC GREATER CALCUTTA – ON teachers day IWC Greater Calcutta felicitated Dr. Hiranmoy Saha and Mrs. Chandona Saha ,Dr. Hiranmoy Saha is a vastly experienced Professor in the field of Electronic and Telecommunication from Jadavpur University. Presently he is associated with Green Energy Centre in IIEST Shibpur. Mrs. Chandona Saha was a Maths Teacher in Lake Town Government Sponsored School. After retirement both Dr. Saha and Mrs. Saha are deeply involved in teaching underprivileged students.

IWC SOUTH WEST CALCUTTA – on Teacher’s Day the club felicitated 2 teachers of Arsh Vidyalay, Nidhi, a school for under privileged children ,and a teacher in Howrah Akshay Shikshayatan for their contributions towards the society

IWC SALT LAKE MIDTOWN – OnTeacher’s Day Inner Wheel Club Of Salt Lake Midtown provided 10,000/- for the honorarium for the dedicated teachers of Alokdhara (A School with children on the autism spectrum).

IWC JOKA celebrated Teacher’s Day at Sukhoranjan Free Primary Bidyapeeth,Pascheem Putiary,where the children were given basic education at no cost by some 8 dedicated teachers. The children came from the most downtrodden section of the society . The club felicitated them with some financial assistance in the hands of the Principal Samir Mandal. They also distributed Innerwheel masks to promote Covid awareness.

IWC SALT LAKE CITY – Teachers Day felicitating three senior teachers of Netaji Public School

On Teachers Day IWC CALCUTTA METROPOLITAN sponsored a yoga session.at Chandipur Ashram. They also donated a LAPTOP to Milan Karan, student of Class six to help him with online studies during current lock down.

Teachers are the nation builders. In this difficult time of the Covid 19 pandemic, they are also working very hard to help the fellow students in their respective studies and are struggling to keep the education system ongoing all over the world, inspite of being technologically challenged. So we at Inner Wheel Club of Kolkata Tilottama, conducted project at MOTHER’S NEST, situated near canal west road near Manicktala. Around 100 students from the near by slum areas studies there and are also provided with food. donated the institute Cooking utensils for mass cooking along with vatti.
As a gesture of love and respect 10 fancy purses were gifted to the 10 lady Teachers and not forgetting the students… clothes.

IWC KOLKATA COSMOS felicitated two teachers of Sangbedan organization,who dedicated their time and money for the betterment of the physically children of this organisation. Mr Sugato Kundu is the physical trainer and Ms. Megha Bose is their dance tutor and also a student of Engineering.

IWC BEHALA – a Fowler bed, a pulse oximeter ,glucometer with 100 strips, manual sphygmomanometer, books and magazines for recreation were given and a hilsa lunch sponsored for the inmates of Santi Nivash old age home.

IWC SALT LAKE MID TOWN On the occasion of Independence day Inner Wheel Club Of Salt Lake Midtown provided sanitary napkins, lingeries, weighing machine, and snacks to the women residents of CMS Children’s Home, Hooghly.

IWC METROPOLITAN – To make Polio affected JAYANT PAUL self reliant, bread earner for his dependent family our club provided aTRICYCLE.

IWC CALCUTTA  DOWNTOWN Rs. 1 lac donated to Shakuntala Orang, bereaved mother of martyred soldier Rajesh Orang in the recent Galwan valley clash. It was a joint project with 34 IWC clubs of Distt. 329. Additional contributions were received from Rotary Club of Calcutta Down

IWC CALCUTTA METROPOLITAN EAST distributed 15 fishing nets and 12 solar lights to the fishermen of Sundarban.

IWC CALCUTTA NORTH EAST – Covid 19 pandemic has slowed down the entire world and its made livelihood difficult. Hence to spread some love and awareness, members of IWC Calcutta North East have handedover some basic necessities to 20 Transgenders.and also the daily ration have been provided to per person.

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF KOLKATA TILOTTAMA – Keeping the dignity of the women in mind, Inner wheel club of Kolkata Tilottama took up a small step to help out the women of Sundarbans. they provided a hundred of them with Hygiene kit containing sanitary napkins, zeiolin, hand sanitizer and dettol hand wash and antiseptic lotion. The part of this south 24 parganas was worst effected from both Amphan and Covid 19 pandemic resulting in contamination of freshwater bodies.

IWC CALCUTTA WEST – distributed 300 masks, 300 bottles of hand sanitizers and food packets to homeless labourers at Coolotola Street, Kolkata.

IWC JOKA – on Independence day sponsored one grocery kit contains daily necessity items, mask and cadbury chocolate to the children of a school for the under privileged who are badly hit by the pandemic.                                                The Club also donated Rs.3000.00 to Ramkrishna Sarada Mission Ashram to facilitate the education of an underprivileged girl child and also gave 50 sanitizers to the Ashram medical unit,SEVANGAN.

On 5th September,2020 IWC Jodhpur Park felicitated a teacher, Mrs. Baishakhi Kar Majumdar,TIC of a school, committed to the cause of education with psychological counseling experience. Also attached as the guide and the teacher in Indira Gandhi Open University and Netaji Subhash Open University.  IWC Jodhpur Park also donated rupees 600/- to Reema Das, a second year student , BTech at Techno Engineering college in Computer Science. Her father Makhan Lal Das is a driver and her mother Rita Das works as a household help. We donated the money to Reema through the kind hands of Baishakhi Kar Majumdar, the teacher whom we felicitated.

We honored the teacher with a plant and greeted both with chocolates.

 

 

IWC JODHPUR PARK

  1. Project Date : 31/08/2020. On the occasion of worlds sports day , a set of badminton racket and a feather was presented to 2 boys whose father irons clothes and they never had any chance to lay hands on any playing kit.
  2. Project date : 2nd September,2020. This project was done to help an old distressed lady who has been dejected by her children. We donated  groceries,, mask with Inner Wheel logo and sanitizer.
  3. Project Venue- Large Ground of a school. 4 Debdaru trees, 3 mango trees ,2 guava trees  , 1 lemon tree. Total 10 saplings were adopted by the club.                No. of beneficiaries – 1500 school children .This is the third project  by the club  on saving environment.

Independence Day Celebrated  at NETAJI PUBLIC SCHOOL . Flag hoisting done under the banner of IWC Salt Lake City, followed by Covid Awareness Project by distributing Masks, Hand Sanitizers, Dettol Soaps and sweets amongst the underprivileged people living on Jessore Road.Dum Dum.

IWC CALCUTTA EASTLAND

On Saturday, 18th July IWC Calcutta Eastland conducted a project in the old age home, Ramthakur Briddhabas. The club distributed sanitizers, masks, disinfects like bleaching powder and bottles of Phenyl to the 40 inmates residing there. The President provided provisions to the Home. As this project was conducted during the Green Week, Club President planted medicinal plants like Neem in the premises of the old age Home. The project was attended by the club President and Vice President.

On the auspicious day, 15th August, the 74th independence day of our country, IWC Calcutta Eastland hoisted the flag in presence of District Chairman, Mrs Anita Ghosh at Hope Foundation, a Girls Orphanage. The club provided sanitary napkins to the 41 girl inmates. Club provided lunch to the girls residing there and some confectioneries were also provided by the club President.

On 15th August 2020 a Fowler bed,pulse oximeter, glucometer with 100 strips,manual sphygmomanometer,books and magazines for recreation and hilsa lunch was served for the inmates of Santi Nivash old age home.This is an ongoing project of the Club.

On 9th July 2020 IWC Behala donated 100 saplings to 20 villagers from 4 villages Gobindapur,Golpota,Rajapur,Kharsarawhere many trees were uprooted during amphan cyclonic storm.Fruit bearing saplings of      mango,guava,banana,ansh or longan and saplings of  medicinal plants neem,hartaki,amlaki,karamcha,bohera and bael were given.

On 21st July 2020 100 more saplings were distributed in amphan affected villages of Gobindapur,Golpota,Rajapur,Kharsara and also planted near a huge pond and a quaint Radha Krishna  temple of Atasura village.Mahogony,Palash,Jarul,Shishu,Sonajhuri,Amlaki,Tamarind,kul(Indian plum) were given by the Forest department to I.W.C. Behala for donation.

PROJECT "COVID "

All the clubs of District 329 extended their helping hands to the common people by providing rations, face masks , sanitizers & gloves to tackle the challenges of Covid 19 and the ensuing lockdown.

On the night of 15th June, 2020 in an unfortunate war 20 Indian Army soldiers were martyred in a violent face-off with the Chinese Army near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at the Galwan Valley, Ladakh.

IWC Calcutta  Down  Town  along with   33    Inner Wheel  clubs of District  329 ,donated Rs 1 lakh to the mother of the slain  Sepoy Rajesh Orang a resident of Bribhum for this supreme sacrifice for his country  .
The hero’s   sudden demise has left a  distraught mother, a sick father and unmarried sister struggling financially.

On the occasion of India’s 74th. Independence Day 2020, IWC Calcutta Midtown presented a cheque of Rs. 60,000 to the Dy. GOC Bengal Area Brig. S. S. Saini to be given to the widow of martyred Havildar Bipul Roy as a token of tribute for his valour and sacrifice for the nation. The cheque will be forwarded to Mrs. Roy in Alipurduar.

On the occasion of Independence Day, in the memory of the  late father of Club President Malini Bhagat , Major Prahlad Bhagat (VSM)  IWC Calcutta did a project sponsored by President Malini by donating a months dry rations of pulses, flour, rice, oil, spices, sugar, biscuits, milk powder, tea and Inner wheel masks to 5 needy families from the slums of Garcha and Panditiya.

On the occasion of our 74th   Independence Day  Inner wheel club  of Calcutta South City Towers donated 60 Inner Wheel logo masks, 100 surgical masks , 60  hand sanitizers and 5 PPE kits to the Security/ housekeeping staff of their South City complex who are relentlessly serving the residents  in this pandemic for their safety n security.

As promised by us IWC KolkataTilottama, it’s our city, our state and it’s our utmost responsibility to take care and protect its fellow men from all difficulties, and the way we were ripped off by the Cyclone Amphan we took up a small step to help out the women of Sundorbon. We provided a hundred of them with Hygiene kit containing sanitary napkins, zeolin, hand sanitizer, dettol hand wash and antiseptic lotion. The part of this south 24 parganas was worst effected and the freshwater bodies were contaminated, as a result of which the women were becoming worse victims. Keeping the dignity of the women in mind, the world’s largest women voluntary organization took their this small initiative.

Mega Joint Project “AAROGYA” with IWC Central Calcutta as the Lead Club joined by 53 other Clubs of the District  marked the beginning of the new Inner Wheel year where  1 Heated Humidified High Nasal Respirator was donated  at Calcutta  Medical Hospital on 1st July,2020.

In their efforts to  save the enviornment  and make mother earth a little greener   IWC South West Calcutta planted 100 saplings at Panchla, Howrah. The members of the club, including senior, Charter  members  too participated in plantation drive in their own localities.

On Monday, July 27, 2020, the Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Midtown distributed Health /Hygiene items to 50 families at Kumrapara Anchal, Mathurapur Block II, South 24 Parganas.  Items included double bed cover, double mosquito net (given the monsoon season and mosquito menace), Savlon soaps, Morrison sanitizer spray, and face shields.  A large part of South 24 Parganas District has been marked as COVID 19 containment area.
